I write award-winning historical romance about pirates, privateers, smugglers and the occasional possum.

Written in Red--Anne Bishop

An interesting take on the vampire/werewolf/human dynamic. For once we have supernatural beings who make it quite clear they see humans as supper more than sex partners, and that's rather refreshing. They're not experiencing angsty moments over their nature, they're wondering if you'd taste good with a side of fava beans.

On the other hand, we saw toward the end of this novel what could be a budding romance between an augmented human (Meg has special abilities other humans do not have--and this makes her rare and valuable to kidnappers) and Simon, the alpha wolf. But we'll see.

I did like the ponies, and the crows, and Jester the coyote. They add a special touch to the alternate North American community which serves as the setting for The Others series. I'm looking forward to the next book.
