I write award-winning historical romance about pirates, privateers, smugglers and the occasional possum.

Throne of the Crescent Moon - Saladin Ahmed I'd hoped to enjoy this Hugo nominated debut novel more than I did. It's a rousing fantasy story with an older-than-average protagonist, but other than its Near East rather than European setting it didn't stand out for me as groundbreaking storytelling or plot. I preferred Judith Tarr's A Wind in Cairo for a good fantasy set in Arabic lands.
