Jack's back, and we're all darn glad of it. I was sort of "meh" about the recent short story, but this latest novel is Jack Reacher at his best--over the top, figuring out why people are messing with him--again--and why the US Army is after Major Reacher's (retired) hide.Jack's finally made it to DC, intent on meeting, and maybe asking out, a woman he's only spoken to on the phone. But when he arrives back at his old offices all hell's broken loose, and as usual, he's in the middle of the storm.Reacher #18 is all about Jack's past, real or not, and imparts the important lesson to the bad guys that there are some people in this world you don't mess with, and #1 on that list is Jack Reacher. He also reminds them what a bad idea it is to mess with people Reacher cares about. A satisfying read, and I was kept guessing up until the end.
